I am an abstract sculptor from Horley in Surrey Who’s exhibitions with the Surrey Sculpture Society include Vivartis 2011 Denbies 2012 Appart 2012. I am also a member of Surrey Artists Open Studio and opened my studio in 2012 taking part in the Taster exhibition at the East Surrey College in Redhill. I was also short listed for the Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academyin 2012.
I carve abstract forms in wood and stone taking inspiration from nature the human form and my imagination. With wood I try to create rounded shapes to show the grain in spirals then polishing to bring out the natural colour. With Alabaster I try to show the translucent crystal like effect by polishing the curved surface. I have recently started working with Marble and Limestone the challenge of carving harder materials is quite enjoyable.
I have always enjoyed drawing in pencil as a way of saving ideas for sculpture as well as using caran d’ache with oil and chalk based pastels for making colourful drawings.
