I come from a career in the Health Service, but I have always been a maker. Textiles were often my medium until I discovered mosaic.
My work is about colour, texture, pattern and most importantly light. Lines are organic, rarely symmetrical and I enjoy the added challenge of placing mosaic on a surface that isn't quite flat.
Tessera are individually cut to fit next to each other, each creating a new facet for light to bounce off. The beauty and life that this brings to a piece can only really be appreciated in reality, almost impossible to capture in a photograph.
I make pieces for home and garden using materials such as glass, stone, slate, and found objects. Inspiration can come from anywhere including the materials themselves.
