Lynette Merrick
Lynette Merrick is an Ecologist and wildlife illustrator and came late to sculpture, after being inspired by Tanya Russell who set up the amazing Sculpture Academy in London. It was a revelation to create three-dimensional objects, after the intricate observation needed for the accurate illustration of living things, necessary for her work in producing the British wildlife identification resources for her company, Gatekeeper Educational.
Her sculptures range from full-size studies of animals to very small “people-watching” studies of individuals noticed in motorway services, post offices, on a bench and even in Eastbourne casualty department.
One particular characteristic is that all wildlife studies incorporate other creatures or plants which share its habitat.
