My present sculptural work has been influenced by nature, feelings and expression. Initially from a life drawing abstracted moved and repositioned to give a dimension of the abstract idea. Past work has been analytical of subjects such as animals, then I abstract, distort and experiment or make a piece entirely whimsical.
Graduating with a B.A(hons) at Brighton University in 3 dimensional design I mainly concentrated on plastics and ceramics and went on to exhibit work in galleries in Brighton and surrounding areas. After a post graduate course in education became a teacher and a co-ordinator of Design Technology at a school for special educational needs children in Surrey.
Now working from my studio in East Grinstead in Sussex I enjoy sculpting in ceramics and cold cast metals decorating with glazes, metal acids and colourful resins.
Drawing and sometimes painting my ideas first to develop and explore the subject. The figure ‘Contemplation’ looking into a pool of water connected to nature. ‘Meditation’ is a quietly meditating figure in the abstract world influenced by ancient sculptures. ‘Hope is a thing with feathers’ where hope is the abstract feeling represented by the figure.
Most recent exhibitions have been in the south-east and south west of the UK.
