Mary Branson 'New Dawn'
Surrey Sculpture Society, in collaboration with the University of Surrey, is delighted to welcome Mary Branson who will talk to us about her art, particularly her residency at the Houses of Parliament, and the sponsorship by the Arts Council.
The Speaker’s Advisory Committee on Works of Art commissioned artist Mary Branson to create a site-specific work entitled ‘New Dawn’, following her six month term as Artist in Residence at the Houses of Parliament researching the archives of the Suffrage movement. Upon completion. ‘New Dawn’ is to be on permanent display in a public location in the Palace of Westminster.
Alongside the residency Mary has been sponsored by The Arts Council England to create a series of prints which are reflections on her research and the artwork New Dawn’
