Virtual Studio Talk with Veda Hallowes 2023
Veda is best known for her bronze fruits and seeds that transcend their original subject matter by echoing the female form. There’s a wonderful sense of ambiguity in her work and each piece is imbued with a unique life and vitality. Her series of small fruit pieces are about relationships and connection.
Her fruits are a metaphor for the female figure with a sensual, subtle, twist and humour. The patinas are rich and individual. The object of Veda’s spill pieces is to engage the imagination - for the viewer to become creator, and delight in the impossible and fantastical.
Veda will speak about her work, the many processes she uses and the inspiration behind her practice. She is currently working on a new series called ‘Seeds of Change’ – inspired by COVID and a transforming world. “For me, art is about enhancement and enrichment. Beauty, growth and greater understanding of life’s mysteries are the bedrock of my work.”
She has exhibited at the Royal Academy.
