Simon Buchanan MRBS is a Surrey-based sculptor working mainly in stone. He has performed many large public and private commissions, including a memorial for the Royal Sussex Regiment, hospital centrepieces and work for the Royal Family. Simon has been elected to membership of a number of societies including the Guild of Stonemasons and Carvers, and the Society of Designer Craftsmen. He also sat for many years as a judge for the prestigious Worshipful Company of Founders, V & A prize.

Simon’s work varies from figurative to abstract and he is interested in stylised forms that ‘catch the essence without getting caught up in the outward form’.
Simon is the steward of Waterperry estate, in Oxfordshire. Waterperry is owned by the School of Economic Science, a centre for enquiry, and spiritual and practical knowledge. It hosts a large Garden Centre, an Art Gallery and frequent outdoor Sculpture Trails and Exhibitions.

Simon was also the chief organiser of the highly successful international art festival, Art in Action until it ended in 2016 and will talk about his plans to follow on from it in the future.
