Savill Garden 2024

Sculptures will be placed thoughtfully amongst the various interconnected gardens, allowing the viewers to imagine how the sculpture would look in their own gardens, whilst also having large open spaces for bigger pieces.

APPLICATIONS & SELECTION
This is a popular and successful venue with very good sales made year on year. We hope that a Private View scheduled for this year may further add to that success.

Selection: As many of you know, there are limited places for this exhibition. In recent years The Crown Estate has selected all the sculptures with SSS having very limited influence on the final choices. This year TCE has agreed that we can have a much greater say. If you have been unlucky enough to be rejected in the past, please don’t take this to heart! Please apply again this year so that we can present and install as wide a variety of pieces possible in this beautiful, autumnal trail.

The garden is large and welcomes sculptures of all sizes, although artists MUST be self-sufficient when it comes to installing their pieces. A tractor is usually available to transport the heavy pieces, but please don’t rely on Savill Garden staff to do the heavy lifting!

All submitted work must be for sale and suitable for outdoors. The Savill Garden staff will select 1 or 2 pieces to place inside the Savill Building which houses the open plan coffee shop, restaurant and gift shop. A couple of pieces will also be chosen to go on the terrace at the garden entrance.

Not permitted:
• There will be NO space for wall hangings this year
• We are not permitted to hang any sculptures from trees or use trees for support
• Please avoid themes involving royalty
Your inspiration: This year the Selection Committee at the Savill Garden have asked sculptors to write a very brief outline of what inspired their sculpture to help with selection. This is a compulsory field in the Application Form but if you do not want to complete it, please write N/A.

Please note that because of internal deadlines for the Crown Estate team, we will use the basic details which you put on the Application Form (price, title, etc) to produce printed materials for the exhibition. Once submitted, you cannot change these basic details in the Final Sales Form.

STEWARDING/CLEANING ROTA
There is NO STEWARDING requirement as sales are handled by the staff at Savill Garden but there will be a cleaning rota. Cleaning takes 1 to 2 hours and involves checking the sculptures for damage and giving them a quick wipe over…it’s actually a nice opportunity to walk the trail in full and see everyone else’s work in situ. As usual, we will try and split the rota between those who live within a reasonable distance of the venue.

PHOTOGRAPHY
It is very important that you send good quality photos that clearly show the piece. Some of these may be used for publicity so it pays to make an effort. They MUST be named in the following format

Surname_First name_Title
