Lou Sainty

Hello, my name’s Lou and I'm an independent sculptor from Sussex. I very happily started sculpting having spent two decades as a Picture Framer, which I continue to love.

Being passionate about nature, I take my inspiration from the stunning natural world around us. My work is full of intricate detail and precise forms, replicating the myriad textures, shapes and contours of our wonderful planet’s flora and fauna. I’m always excited and intrigued to see how each piece turns out, as no two are ever exactly the same.

I produce all my sculptures in limited series and take great delight in casting every one myself, each one being hand-finished to create a unique piece.

I really enjoy blending-in materials also found in nature, giving each sculpture an organic colouration. In addition to gold and silver leaf I use bronze, silver, iron, slate and copper extracts, so that over time they can be weathered by their environment. This process can enrich and change the intensity of their appearance as they age, a bit like us!

I’m proud to support the Alzheimer’s Society and donate from each sale to this worthy cause.
