After sketching and painting his way through his first career of Deck Officer in the Merchant Navy, it was not until retiring from his second career as a Building Surveyor in the City of London, that he took up sculpture in Tuscany.

Ian is particularly interested in figurative work cast in bronze by the lost wax process, with some carved pieces in Alabaster.
Portrait sculpture has a compelling fascination for him.
Other interests are photography, travel and sail cruising.
