I trained as a teacher of art in schools at Cheltenham in the late 1960's and afterwards concentrated on painting, etching and I did a little pottery. I exhibited in the Midlands, London and in Surrey. I began sculpting regularly in 1997 in Further Education Classes in Guildford when Ivor Livi was the tutor. I wanted to learn how to make small pieces in bronze resin and Ivor showed me how to do this with my first model: a head of my dog.

For a while creating small figurative sculptures took over my spare time but now I try to fit it in with my former interest in painting. Now I usually make painted, fired clay, figures. I exhibit at indoor venues with the Surrey Sculpture Society.

At present my work in both painting and sculpture is figurative, generally of horses, dogs and other domestic animals but sometimes of theatrical subjects, such as Commedia del Arte characters.
