After painting wildlife as an occasional activity during her career years, Sue felt on retirement that sculpture would be an absorbing extension of this, with its different challenges. This has now become an exciting and enduring interest.
She loves the creation of texture to give an illusion of fur, feather and muscle, without too closely detailed a representation. Important to her is injecting an element of individuality through expression or attitude into each of her sculptures, and the heads of creatures interest her particularly. She casts limited editions of her work in slate, marble or bronze resin, and also creates unique, glazed and fired ceramic pieces.
She exhibits her sculptures regularly with the Society of Women Artists as well and has work in private collections throughout the UK, also in France and Germany.
