I graduated from Loughborough University in 2000 with a degree in fine art: sculpture, since then I have been living in Woking, working in a small studio in my garden. I work mainly in metal, using birds, animals, insects and plants as my subject matter and I often take my inspiration from children’s stories, poems or illustrations. My main aim is to create sculptures that are fun to look at, so I try to give my work a sense of 'quirkiness', often using bright colours or awkward poses to achieve this. Apart from exhibiting with the Surrey Sculpture Society I also have work on permanent display at The Pride of the Valley Sculpture Park and "The Knowledge Tree", a sculpture that was the product of workshops that I ran with the Friends of Hersham Library involving several schools, which can be seen at Hersham Library. I also run my own website www.alisoncatchlove.co.uk, do the occasional craft fair and I am available for sculpture workshops. I am happy to take commissions and open my studio to visitors as part of the Surrey Artists Open Studios in the summer.
