Alan Wasdell switched from painting to sculpture in the late 1990s. He works mainly in wood and Perspex, using pigments, mirrors, and metal and translucent foils to provide coloured and reflecting surfaces.
 
He produces both abstract and figurative pieces and is particularly interested in harnessing and channelling light within his sculptures.
 
Most pieces are of a modest size. Some are designed to be hung as pictures.
 
The materials he uses mean that his work is suitable for indoor display only.
